#13 Tagging, Folksonomies& Technorati

Time's running out, but this week's work has unearthed many websites for me to revisit.
Del.icio.us
is definitely a worthwhile one, and I have added the buttons to my browser toolbar. This is one my teenage children could use for their research at school and then access at home. The ability to tag and organise their bookmarks into suitable headings (of their own design), podcast, share with friends etc. is a real winner.
Technorati is a monitor of webblogs and a great place to visit, however, as with so many sites, time disappears. Searched for references to Rudd, added them to my Del.icio.us account, in the press of a button, and VOILA! Will be journeying to this website again.
Library 2.0 & Web 2.0 are many things, some new and some merely extensions of the present state of play. The most radical is the greater access of the public to the control of the library's direction, the interactivity and the need to open doors to quick and easy information retrieval. The most important asset is an open mind, an ability to let go of ownership and a willingness to embrace change.
